Birmingham Water Works’ Leaders Receive Prestigious Recognitions


Leadership, often described as the guiding light of thriving organizations, holds the power to shape futures and inspire entire communities. BWW is honored to highlight the remarkable accomplishments of our executive leadership Chairwoman Tereshia Q. Huffman and General Manager Michael Johnson.

Leadership Birmingham is a highly competitive program that handpicks fifty leaders from the local community to participate. It’s a testament to the caliber of leaders in Birmingham, and Michael Johnson is one of the fortunate few to join this esteemed group. This program fosters collaboration, innovative thinking, and a profound understanding of the complexities that our community faces. Johnson has over 39 years of management and accounting experience with over 25 at the executive level. In addition to his civilian career, he is a retired Colonel with over 26 years of service as an active duty and reserve military officer in the United States Marine Corps, where he was responsible for logistics, maintenance, and fiscal planning.

Upon receiving this recognition, Michael Johnson expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am deeply honored to be selected for Leadership Birmingham 2024. It’s an exciting opportunity to learn, collaborate, and work alongside some of the best and brightest leaders in our community.
