Birmingham, AL — (June 17, 2024) — The Birmingham Water Works Board (BWWB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Darryl Jones as Interim General Manager. Jones, a seasoned veteran with over 30 years of experience at Birmingham Water Works (BWW), previously served as Assistant General Manager (AGM) for 13 years before being hired as a consultant in March.

Jones expressed his enthusiasm about returning to BWW, stating, “I am excited to be back at Birmingham Water Works to support moving BWW forward. My primary focus will be on supporting our employees through this transition, and continuing our infrastructure improvement projects.”

BWW has made significant strides in infrastructure improvements, having replaced 29,090 feet of pipe this year. Jones’s leadership will ensure that these efforts continue unabated, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the water supply system in our five-county service area.

In his role, Jones will also work to foster stronger relationships with BWW stakeholders. “With my 30 years of experience at Birmingham Water Works, I understand the importance of maintaining strong relationships with our various stakeholders. These relationships are crucial for effectively communicating the improvements we are making to enhance the customer experience. I look forward to working closely with our assistant general managers to provide the necessary support to keep moving BWW Forward positively,” said Jones.
