At Birmingham Water Works, our commitment to community health and wellness continues to be a driving force behind our outreach programs. A shining example of this commitment is our WaterBoy initiative, which recently brought us to Huffman High School. Here, we had the fantastic opportunity to engage with the varsity cheerleaders, a spirited group of over 20 young athletes, about the critical importance of staying hydrated.

Promoting Hydration Awareness

During our visit, we shared essential hydration tips and strategies, emphasizing how proper hydration is crucial for peak performance and safety in athletics. The Huffman High Vikings cheerleaders showed great enthusiasm for the topic, eager to learn how they could maintain optimal hydration levels during their rigorous routines. To ensure the cheerleaders were equipped to stay cool and hydrated throughout their season, we provided them with a 10-gallon cooler and cooling towels. These tools were met with excitement from the team, who appreciated the support in keeping their energy up and heat down during performances and practices.

Join Our Effort

We believe that every student athlete should have access to the resources needed to stay hydrated and healthy. If you know of a school that would benefit from the WaterBoy initiative, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We are eager to expand this program and support more young athletes across our community.

The WaterBoy initiative is just one of the many ways Birmingham Water Works invests in the health and wellbeing of our community. By fostering awareness and providing practical solutions, we aim to create a safer and more vibrant environment for all our young athletes and beyond.
