Annual Consecutive System Partnership Conference at Cahaba Pump Station

Birmingham Water Works (BWW) was thrilled to host the Annual Consecutive System Partnership Conference (CSPC) at the historic Cahaba Pump Station on Friday, March 22nd. This event holds special significance as BWW recognizes some of its most esteemed customers. The conference serves as a platform to celebrate the achievements of consecutive systems over the past year.

In 2024, BWW is proud to honor the following Consecutive Systems: Brookside, Graysville, Mulga, Pine Bluff, and West Jefferson. Each of these systems received the prestigious Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) Optimization Award in recognition of their exceptional water quality standards within their distribution networks. This award, established by ADEM, acknowledges operational excellence that prioritizes public health protection by meeting optimization goals set by the EPA Region IV and ADEM Drinking Water Branch Programs.

Laura Taylor from the ADEM Drinking Water Branch provided crucial insights into anticipated regulatory changes with the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), expected to be enacted this October. April Nabors, BWW Superintendent and AWWA AL/MS Chair, delivered updates on regulatory developments from Capitol Hill, potential revisions to Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) requirements, and available funding opportunities. Attendees also participated in a hands-on demonstrations of state-of-the-art leak detection equipment, engaged in operator collaboration sessions, and earned five hours of continuing education credits.

BWW is deeply grateful for the opportunity to acknowledge and collaborate with this outstanding group of awardees, as well as other utilities in attendance.

Together, we continue to achieve greater heights!
