Derrick Murphy

Derrick Murphy was raised in the Ensley community of Birmingham. Derrick earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Masters of Engineering & Construction Management from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He brings over 17 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry.

Derrick provides a diverse work background in management, leadership development, high-level project management, and water system engineering services experience in the Southeast region. He has participated in capital improvement planning, facility process improvement, work flow optimization, and performance enhancement for projects in Birmingham, Gwinnett County, Georgia, and Memphis, Tennessee.

Outside of his passion in the water resource industry, Derrick has demonstrated his commitment to public service as an elected official on the Hoover City Council. Prior to his election, he was appointed as the President of the Hoover Board of Education.
